We accept mainly the PDF or post – script files for the purpose of printing. We would like to provide you with a few clues, so that you are able to prepare the files for us in a correct way.
How to prepare the works (files) for printing?
- we prepare the PDF files for printing. Having finished the project, record the PDF file for further printing works. Every application does it differently, so in case of problems contact our experts.
-
there is one general way of recording the PDF file for all the DTP programmes. Below you will find the adequate procedure:
- install a post – script printer in your operating system (we can use e.g. the Linotronic 830, Agfa Apogee or other drivers to do it)
- remember, redirect the port of the printer to FILE during the installation process
- having finished the project, print it, choosing as the target the post-script printer (the one you installed)
- do not choose the option of colourful separations, our RIP system separates the PDF files independently for printing
- enlarge the page with about 25 mm in both dimensions, in order to insert the cutting lines (the pointures are unnecessary!)
- instead of a printout you will receive a post-script file (name.ps or name.prn)
- then you should transform the name.ps file into the PDF file. In order to do this you can use a commercial programme Adobe Distiller (recommended) or a free programme Ghostscript with the GSView overlay. You can download it from the Ghostscript+GSView website.
- you can open the PDF file in the free programme Adobe Acrobat Reader or in the aforementioned GSView.
- Having made sure that everything was done correctly, send the PDF files to us by e-mail: naswietlarnia@goetzdruk.pl (up to 5Mb). If files are larger, then send it to your favourite FTP server and later send the link to this server to us, together with the login and password.
How to design projects for the offset printing correctly?
- when there is graphics in the project, which ends exactly at the edge of a page, it is necessary to add 3 mm of bleed printing. It is also recommended to add the markers of cutting place, especially if the work is going to be recorded in such a format, which does not specify the area of the page
- the resolution of bitmaps should remain between 250 dpi and 350 dpi (a resolution lower than 250 dpi can influence the quality of printed objects unfavourably, and a resolution higher than 350 dpi will not make the quality better, it only enlarges the size of the file unnecessarily).
- it is absolutely necessary to use the CMYK model colours in the projects. No RGB or other colour models should be used (in case of delivering a work containing the RGB colours, the final printout can be different from what the customer expected).
Other technological aspects
- for thicker publications in wire stitch binding please define the backbone allowance
- for book publications please put in columns with suitable margins, taking into account the binding, or centre the columns, but give us the size of the margins
- for the glued publications it is necessary to remove the image at the 2nd – 3rd side of the cover (the interior side of the backbone)
- when printing on large surfaces (apli), one colour can be used - the pantone. Of course in the project only the combination of the apli print and the photos in CMYK can be included.
- neither logotypes, nor small graphic files should be placed at the edge of the project (just by the cutting line)
